King Heritage & Cultural Events


King is vibrant with cultural events; Arts Society King or (ASK) conducts many events including. The 2007 schedule includes Studio Tour King July 21st and July 22nd, Global Village Film discussion, and Art Workshops July 16th - July 20th . The King Museum hosts a summer concert series, and other heritage and cultural events all year long. King Swings July Music Festivals 9th season featured Jeff Healey, Danny Marks Rock & Roll Blues Review and The Good Brothers. The Annual Kingfest Music Celebration 2006 featured Murray McLauchlan, Sylvia Tyson, Cindy Church, Bluegrass preformers Raymond McLain and Mike Stevens and the R&B sensation Jack Soul, two time Juno winner David Francey and Kiximama. Kingfest 2007 dates are June 22 & 23 and will feature Prairie Oyster.

King continues to celebrate the rural country life with annual events like the Nobleton Victoria Day Fair and Fireworks May 21st 2007, the Schomberg Agricultural Fair May 24 - May 27, 2007, Garden Tours, Kettleby Fall Fair Saturday, September 8th, 2007. The Organic Advocates Feast of Fields will once again bring together the most well known chefs in Ontario on Sunday, September 16, 2007.

Every year Doors Open Ontario showcases several significant heritage locations in King Township, including churches and cemeteries (download the map.) Come to the Annual Scarecrow Competition & Bonfire on September 30th in Schomberg (contest rules.) Celebrate the season at the Schomberg Main St Christmas on December 2nd and let us become part of your family tradition.

Hundreds turned out for the Dragon Boat Festival at Seneca College King Campus in support of the United Way York Region. The 8th Annual Sprucewood International Radio Control Car Races are from August 23 - 26 2007. The 1st Annual Kingstock Battle of the Bands had 10 youth bands compete for top prize.
